Guardian
Tactical armed forces must move swiftly in a combat environment and need equipment that is portable, durable and light-weight for easy relocation and setup. Advancements in hardware technology enable Ultra Electronics Advanced Tactical Systems (Ultra) to offer the Guardian system-a force multiplier for mobile warfighters. This system is part of Ultra’s new line of small form factor Tactical Data Link (TDL) computers, designed for real-time tactical situational awareness (SA), command and control (C2) and flexible operations.

Overview
The Guardian system is delivered on Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware ensuring cost effectiveness and upgradeability. It provides the user with the capability to operate on multiple tactical data links simultaneously. This robust data communications system receives, forwards and displays tactical information from multiple data links with user-interface applications adapted from Ultra’s certified Air Defense Systems Integrator (ADSI) ® software baseline.
Since 1990, the US military has relied on the ADSI during every major crisis. The Guardian system moves that proven capability in a new direction-to the front line warfighters. It incorporates the robustness of the ADSI software into a small compact chassis, designed to be moved quickly, with or without vehicle support. This solution gives the warfighter the maneuverability and interoperability necessary to make rapid decisions on the front lines where response time is crucial.
The Guardian system is intended to be used in forward operational locations. It is designed to be a rapid deployable system with small footprint and weight parameters so that operators can easily transport the Guardian system into any mission location and quickly set up for operations without the need for extra equipment. The Guardian system has an integrated keyboard, mouse, monitor, network hub and built-in uninterruptible power supply. The Guardian system can quickly connect to various communications systems such as: MIDS, JTIDS and SADL terminals, as well as, SATCOM radios, for Link 16 connectivity.

Operation
Consisting of two integrated computers, the Guardian system is assembled in one compact, hardware case with built-in keyboard, mouse, monitor and uninterruptible power supply for use in the most demanding environments.
The first computer combines the real-time data forwarding and interface functions onto one Linux
processor and the second computer uses a Microsoft® Windows® operating system that controls the display.
The Guardian system has been successfully operated by U.S. units in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The Guardian system contains four serial channels as well as three Ethernet network ports for flexible IP connectivity.
The Guardian system can be upgraded to enable sensor integration. This upgrade is known as the Range Guardian.
